Questions, answered

What we do, where we work, how projects run and how we price them.

In short

This page answers common UK questions about Wartens: its registered office in Milton Keynes, water and wastewater controls work, Made Smarter-ready projects, S7-300 migration, virtual commissioning, engagement models, ISO 9001:2015 quality management and edWartens training.

Wartens in the UK

Wartens Ltd is registered in England and Wales (company number 15262249) with its registered office and group headquarters at Unit 8, Lyon Road, Milton Keynes, MK1 1EX.

Yes. Water and wastewater controls are our lead UK offer: PLC, SCADA and telemetry engineering, legacy control upgrades and documentation for treatment works and networks, always to the water company's own engineering standards.

We scope PLC and SCADA engineering, robot cells and data capture sized for SME budgets and grant applications. Grant decisions are made by Made Smarter, not by Wartens.

Common questions

As a fixed-price work package for a defined deliverable such as a machine's PLC software or a migration, a monthly engineering capacity retainer, a subscription for monitoring dashboards or training platforms, or a training programme. Every engagement starts with a written scope, schedule and price.

About Wartens

Wartens is an industrial automation group. We design and deliver control systems, digital twins, immersive training and energy systems, through Wartens and specialist brands including iUNI, edWartens and Wartens Energy.

We serve clients in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, India and the UAE, with offices in Milton Keynes, Dover (Delaware), Abu Dhabi, Bangalore and Iritty, and a training centre in Oberhaching near Munich.

Every market gets engineering from the same India centre. You deal with one Wartens contact in your country.

Engineering & digital twins

Siemens TIA Portal and S7-1500, Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, Beckhoff TwinCAT and CODESYS among others. Our engineers are trained on 20 PLC brands, including Mitsubishi, Delta, ABB and Schneider Electric.

Testing your PLC program against a virtual model of the machine or line before site work, so logic, interlocks and sequences are debugged before they reach physical equipment.

A typical digital twin project takes 12 to 24 weeks, depending on scope and the data available.

Working with us

As a fixed-price work package, a monthly engineering capacity retainer, a turnkey project (in India), a subscription, or a training programme. Every engagement starts with a written scope, schedule and price.

Discovery, fixed scope and quote, engineering, remote acceptance, site support, then handover and support.

Yes. Quality management across the group is certified to ISO 9001:2015.

LADX questions

LADX is the Wartens group's AI workbench for automation engineers. It brings a ladder editor and simulator, AI whose answers are checked before you use them, conversion between PLC platforms, an HMI/SCADA builder, panel CAD, project documents, a planner and a manuals assistant onto one project, with the Wartens LADV virtual PLCs for testing logic. It is vendor-neutral and runs in the browser.

The browser ladder editor and simulator, the converter, the HMI/SCADA builder, the CAD tool, the 17 document templates and the forum are free with no account and no trial period. An account adds a central place to keep projects. With a free account the AI runs on free models, and you can connect your own provider key for paid ones.

It can, if something checks it and shows you what it found. LADX runs generated ladder through the editor's validator and a seal-in check, and compiles generated Structured Text with the LADV IEC 61131-3 compiler. Problems are listed beside the answer, Auto-fix sends them back to the model, and code that passes can be run on a virtual PLC. A compiler proves code is valid, not that it is right, so review stays with the engineer.

LADX writes programs out as Siemens SCL, Rockwell neutral text, IEC 61131-3 Structured Text and PLCopen XML. You then import, compile and download in the vendor tool. Reading vendor projects back into LADX is still being built.

No. LADX never uses your programs to train AI models, and your account and its data can be deleted in one action. On the free tier your prompts go to the company running the free model, which may keep them; connect your own provider key to work under your own provider's terms.
